 We're continuing to work details out to bring dad home. please be praying for those details to work out- coverage of nurses, greta nurses to help dad recover, OT, ST, PT, and that all would go smoothly and well. Dad has been doing pressure support at might for 6 hours and trach collar during the day. Thanks so much for praying!

2/22 Update

2/22: After taking the ventilator tube out a week ago, he did will for a few days, but then just got too tired, so they had to put the tube back in. It's so hard and so difficult that this happened, but I also don't want him struggling. Being able to visit and just be with him him and encourage him this past week has been a blessing. I love him so much and I'm really glad that I was able to speak hope and love into him. The plan is to do a tracheostomy sometime this week to give him air more directly. The doctor said that all his organs look good- his heart, kidneys, etc. - it's just that he needs more strength. So, the doctor said the tracheostomy will allow him the time to build up his strength to hopefully be able to breathe on his own and have it removed and then do rehab to recover fully. Saturday, July 17th

 My dad has been on trach collar since I last wrote! He's been doing great. Yesterday he was on 40% with the PMV in (the speaking valve). Many times, he would desatt with the PMV, but he did great with it yesterday. And, then last night, they lowered the percent he's on to 35%. After having so many visits of my dad mouthing words and both of us being frustrated in me not being able to read lips, when I went to see my dad yesterday, it was SO awesome to actually be able to hear his voice. To know exactly what he's saying. To have a conversation with him. To hear him talking to the nurses about his work at JP Morgan and the passion he has for helping people because he cares about them. To hear him talk about their vision and also the importance of long term growth in investments and not quick fixes- wisdom he has shared with me my entire life. To hear him talk about when he first saw my mom and how her beauty drew him to her. But, how his love for her goes far deeper than tha...

Sunday, 3/14

Everyone told us that it is very difficult to get a room at Emory's center, but I am SO grateful that they called us to let us know that dad is eligible to come there and that there is a room for him. Thank you, Lord. So, he should be moving there in the next few days.  I was able to spend 6 hours with him yesterday which was amazing. My mom and I went for a few hours this morning to see him. They don't usually let visitors come, so I'm so thankful they have been letting us come in some. My dad looks good considering all he has been through and his personality is there which is so great to see. It's frustrating for him to not be able to communicate and to try and tell us something and not be able to since he can't talk yet bc of the tube. But, he'll be able to soon. He has such a glass half-full attitude about life so I know he's he gets that he just needs to push through and that he'll be able to talk soon.  It is a good thing that he shows frustration ...
